Oregano essential oil has been used since ancient times to treat different conditions, skin infections, digestive and breathing problems, viral infections, mycosis, and allergies. There are many claims supporting its strengthening effect on the immune system and its role in increasing the flexibility of joints and muscles. This essential oil is considered the most versatile oil and “nature’s purifier.”
Oregano oil contains four main types of chemical compounds that provide a strong healing power. Phenols, like carvacrol and thymol, have antiseptic and antioxidant properties, while terpenes, such as pinene and terpinene, have antiseptic, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and anesthetic properties. Linalool and borneol are two alcohol chains with antiviral and antiseptic properties. Finally, oregano oil has an abundance of esters, including some powerful antifungal agents like linalyl acetate and geranyl acetate. Even though the effectiveness of oregano essential oil is due to the combined effect of the different compounds, the biggest part in its effectiveness is attributed to carvacrol.
Soréganoproduces oregano essential oil from the Lippia graveolens
variety, also known as Mexican oregano. ,
Our oregano grows based on the natural cycles, in full harmony with the local environment, with no use of fertilizers or pesticides, mainly in our own land. We also acquire oregano from small local producers that comply with the same standards, in our efforts to support the rural community that we are a part of.
The harvested oregano is carefully aired in designated spaces, avoiding direct sunlight in order to preserve the essential oils. Sorégano’s essential oil is obtained through steam distillation, with a meticulous detail concerning every quality and hygiene aspect.
